I choose Women’s rights as my topic because it was very interesting and women had suffered through a lot back then. Women were the first to protest at the white house for voting and a lot of women were arrested for doing that. When read that women protested at the white house for voting issues, it made me feel that women were much braver than men. Women’s rights is very good topic because it has to do with rights and responsibilities theme for History day.
I conducted my research by going on Google and I found a lot of things about Women’s Rights for voting. I learn about the Women’s Right Movement and Women Suffrage Movement which were very important to women. I also learned that after the passage of the 19th amendment, women had the right to vote and the 19th amendment was for the qualification to vote. I also used a website that the Smithsonian gave to me and my group, the website was very interesting because it had a lot of facts about Women’s rights like a picture of Susan B. Anthony and all types of women that help women get their rights.
My group chooses a website because it was much easier to do than an exhibit. My group already knew how to make a website. We created our project by making the website and starting to write out our overview before putting it in our website because if you have a mistake, the judges will take points off for having improper grammar. My group members divided up the work so we each had to do half the work because a website doesn’t take long.
Our project does relate to the theme rights and responsibilities because Women’s rights do have to with rights. Women gain their right to vote when the 19th amendment was passed and the 19th amendment stated that it had the qualification to vote so meaning women had the right to vote. The House of Constitution created the 19th amendment. The theme rights and responsibilities were important in history because women’s rights were important because today, women wouldn’t be able to vote if it wasn’t for the passage of the 19th amendment.
